A handcrafted paring knife by Lorimer Knives, with a D2 tool steel blade and a timber handle. Care for it well and it will be with you for a lifetime.
Each knife is unique: the timber and grain vary but are always beautiful. Choose from recovered river rimu, tōtara or Southland beech.
Total length 19.8cm, blade 10cm.
Stamped with the knifemaker's signature and packaged in a wooden box.
Jamie Pickford now heads up the business, with founder Peter Lorimer overseeing every step from forging, grinding and hardening the blades to making the boxes that carry them, at his Omakau workshop in Central Otago. Workshop photo by Nicky Claridge.
Care: The blade is D2 tool steel, prized by knifemakers because it holds a sharp edge for a long time. It's rust-resistant but not fully stainless, so hand wash and dry straight away, and never put it in the dishwasher or leave it wet. Have it professionally sharpened about once a year, or whenever it starts to feel dull. In Ōtautahi Christchurch we recommend KASS Sharpening Services on St Asaph Street.
We ship nationwide across Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally to selected destinations.
