No. 1 The Spread knife by Nůž made in Waiuku, New Zealand

Regular price $150.00

No. 1 The Spread is a table knife for everyday meals. Its rounded tip makes it ideal for buttering bread, while the sharp edge slices easily through meats, potatoes and vegetables.

The blade is high carbon steel made from recycled sawblades, and the handle is FSC-certified American ash. Three brass rivets hold the blade and handle together.

Total length 21cm, blade length 10cm.

Each knife comes in a card sleeve with care and sharpening instructions.

Hand-crafted using traditional techniques by Nůž in Waiuku, Aotearoa. Nůž was founded in 2019, but its roots go much deeper. Founder Madison Baker has knife-making in her DNA: back in 1983, her father started the knife brand Svord. Watching her dad make knives by hand and grow his business into one of New Zealand's best-loved hunting and fishing knife brands gave her a true appreciation for the craft.

Care: Hand wash in warm soapy water and dry straight away. Never put it in the dishwasher. Oil the blade occasionally with a little olive or vegetable oil to protect against rust. Carbon steel develops a natural patina with use. Have it professionally sharpened about once a year, or whenever it starts to feel dull. In Ōtautahi Christchurch we recommend KASS Sharpening Services on St Asaph Street.
