Regular price $70.00
A cosy rib-knit baby hat that stretches and grows with your child. Soft, light and very warm, made with undyed yarn – fold the brim up or down.
Cream: 50% bohepe, 25% merino, 25% alpaca.
Brown: 50% pihepe, 25% merino, 25% possum.
Bohepe is undyed, chemical-free wool from ethically farmed sheep on Banks Peninsula.
Size: approx. 15cm across the brim (flat) and 18.5cm long with the brim unfolded.
The wool is spun in Wellington and knitted in Ōtepoti Dunedin for Wyld.
The story of the pihepe: Pihepe are Pitt Island wild sheep, descended from Saxony merinos sent to the Chatham Islands in 1841. Wyld founder Roger Beattie lived on the Chathams for 17 years and brought a small flock back to the mainland – he now runs 2500 pihepe on Banks Peninsula.
Care: Wool naturally resists stains and odours, so it rarely needs washing – airing it out is usually enough. If it does get marked, machine wash on a cool gentle cycle or hand wash with a wool detergent, then roll in a towel to remove water and lay flat to dry. Store folded with a cedar block to keep moths away.
We ship nationwide across Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally to selected destinations.
