Jordie McDonald works from a shared pottery studio in New Brighton, Ōtautahi. After a year of testing she has created a blend of clay from two Canterbury deposits - Kakahū and Glentunnel - accessed through the Canterbury brick works in Darfield. Jordie's goal is to use the most local materials possible, in an effort to be sustainable and add local meaning to the pieces. All clay is thoroughly hand-processed which involves mixing the two clays together in buckets before sieving it and drying it in pillowcases.
