Kete woven in Ohakune and Ōtautahi, Aotearoa

Regular price $230.00

These beautiful kete are made to use and will stand upright when you place them down. Woven in harakeke with cotton rope handles they are sturdy, hardwearing and functional.

Mother daughter duo Robin Thomas and Kahurangi Carter (Ngāti Maniapoto, Tainui Awhiro) are passionate about connecting with Ranginui (our sky father) and Papatūānuku (our earth mother) and honouring Mauri ora - the circle of life and abundance gifted to us by Rangi and Papa. Raranga (weaving) is their medium for harnessing this wisdom which has been passed down to them from a long line of weavers in Te Kuiti. This particular design was originally woven by master weaver Diggeress Rangituatahi Te Kanawa CNZM QSO who was a New Zealand Māori tohunga raranga of Ngāti Maniapoto and Ngāti Kinohaku descent.

Please expect slight variation in size, colour and natural pattern of the harakeke - each kete is unique.

Dimensions: 42cm wide x 14cm deep x 27cm high. Handle length 15cm from top of kete.

Made between Ohakune and Ōtautahi Christchurch.
