Bread tin made in Dunedin, New Zealand
Regular price $65.00
A sturdy loaf tin that will stand the test of time. Made in Dunedin, this tin is made to the same specs designed for commercial use. It is made from cold rolled steel, also known as black iron due to the colour it takes on as it seasons. This seasoning lasts longer and makes it safer to use than pans with non-stick coatings.
Dimensions: 240 x 120 x 80mm
Seasoning instructions: wash in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. Lightly coat in vegetable oil, then wipe oil off with a paper towel removing as much as possible, leaving a thin film that feels slippery but not wet.
Place the tin in a pre-heated oven at 250°C for 50 minutes. Expect the tin to change colour, usually slightly golden to dark grey. Remove from the oven, allow to cool, and wipe away any excess oil with a paper towel. This process will provide a good, seasoned surface. With frequent use the loaf tin will turn black - this is desirable and should not be scrubbed off.
Use and care: after use, hand wash in hot water with a non-metal brush. Dry immediately with a towel or by placing the tin back in a warm oven heat. Occasionally wipe the tin with oil to keep it happy. Do not wash in the dishwasher, or use detergents after seasoning.
