Chef's pan in two sizes made in Dunedin, New Zealand

Regular price $99.00

This black iron pan is perfect for frying, grilling and serving amazing meals and suits gas, electric and induction stove tops.

Lighter than conventional cast iron pans, this pan is typically used by professional chefs as it can be easily moved between hob and stove, and to lift and toss. It will season with use and will quickly become your favourite pan for all your cooking: it cooks food with an even heat, and even makes great crepes.

Made from 2mm cold roll mild steel in Ōtepoti Dunedin.

Regular: 27cm handle, 26.50cm diameter

Small: 21cm handle, 21cm diameter

Seasoning instructions: wash in warm soapy water and dry the pan thoroughly. Lightly coat in vegetable oil, then wipe oil off with a paper towel removing as much as possible, leaving a thin film that feels slippery but not wet.

Place the pan in a pre-heated oven at 250°C for 50 minutes. Expect the pan to change colour, usually slightly golden to dark grey. Remove from the oven, allow to cool, and wipe away any excess oil with a paper towel. This process will provide a good, seasoned surface. With frequent use the pan will turn black - this is desirable and should not be scrubbed off.

Use and care: bring the pan up to temperature gently before cooking to prevent buckling. After use, hand wash in hot water with a non-metal brush. Dry immediately with a towel or by placing the pan on low heat. Occasionally wipe the pan with oil to keep it happy. Do not wash in the dishwasher, or use detergents after seasoning.
