The Boneline Wai-Iti pinot noir

Regular price $49.00

Ruby heart with a red hue.

Earth driven aromas mixed with alluring Chelan Cherries, lifted violets, underlying black liquorice with hints of woodsmoke.

Crunchy and crisp red fruits, savoury raspberries and our hallmark minerality are held together with finely woven tannins providing a velvety texture. The vibrant fruit and acidity accumulate on the palate to give a long graceful finish.

The Bone Line is named in reference to the nearby K-T boundary line that is evidence of the global catastrophe of an asteroid impact on the earth and the end of the Mesozoic Era and the extinction of the dinosaurs. Each of the wines’ labels features fossils discovered in the Waipara River dating back as far as 65 million years. The labels bear a tangible connection with the land on which the fruit is grown.

The vineyard’s natural amphitheatres allow a wide range of varieties to grow and ripen (considering the region and climate), creating incredibly diverse flavours. The Bone Line is a member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand, which provides a framework for the best viticultural practices to protect the environment while efficiently producing premium grapes. Their vineyards are in the process of organic conversion, working within the Biogro system — harvest 2021 is expected to produce our first organically certified fruit.
