Nicola Farquhar lives and works in Ōtautahi. Her paintings act as a visual record of her ideas and research, which often engage science fiction tropes, storytelling and language, flora and fauna, and geometry as subject matter.
The Dunedin Public Art Gallery is currently exhibiting ’Stars, lands’, a solo exhibition of work from her time as the 2024 artist-in-residence. Previously she has presented solo exhibitions with the Centre of Contemporary Art Toi Moroki, Te Uru and Hopkinson Mossman, and been included in group exhibitions at The Suter, Coastal Signs, Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki and City Gallery Wellington.
