About the artist:

Amy van Luijk is an artist and textile designer based in Wellington, New Zealand. Taking inspiration from the natural world around her, Amy's love of plant forms started when she grew her own garden from seeds and became fascinated with the colours and variations of the plants and flowers within each plant variety and each stage of growth.

About the work: Tulips were cultivated in Persia from the 10th Century. They feature in many paintings, tiles and textiles. My favourite depiction of tulips are in the still life paintings of Rachel Ruysch, who depicted them in bouquets alongside other flowers, fruit and insects.

The artwork is a collage made by hand in my studio using a selection of found papers. Carefully scanned and colour matched to perfectly show the textures and colours of the original work. Archival quality digital print on textured 225gsm watercolour paper.
